PROJECT HISTORY
July 2005: Jessica starts to notice tomatoes. She meets musician Jason Webley who drives a Tomato car and plays her his collection of ‘tomato music.’
August 2005: Jessica begins interviewing farmers in Boulder, Colorado.
October 2005: Jessica works with Joan Bruemmer, Jennifer Hicks and members of the Tectonic Theater Project to present a workshop performance called TOMATO at the Dairy Center for the Arts in Boulder, Colorado.
March 2006: Jessica works with Joan Bruemmer, Leigh Fondakowski, Ashley Hughes, Moises Kaufman and Liz Stanton to present a workshop of Miracle Tomato at Naropa University.
February 2007: Jessica works with Ragnar Freidank and John Capablo to present improvisations using material from Miracle Tomato at the Brooklyn Arts Exchange.
March-April 2007: Jessica is the artist in residence at the Tin Shop in Colorado where she works with graphic designer Asli Ayata to design accompanying slides for a solo version of the show.
May 2007: Jessica performs Miracle Tomato in her kitchen for Annie Lanzillotto, Audrey Kindred and Will McAdams.
Later in May 2007: Miracle Tomato opens in NYC at P.S. 122 as part of the soloNOVA Festival.
June 2007: Angelina makes an appearance at Moe's comedy club in the east village, NYC.
July 2007: Miracle Tomato is performed at the Michael Chekhov Festival at Amherst College.
August 2007: Miracle Tomato is re-written and performs to sold out crowds at the Boulder International Fringe Festival.
Later in August: David Schulz begins taking photos for Miracle Tomato.
October 2007: Jessica travels to Louisville to rehearse a pizzeria version of Miracle Tomato with Will McAdams.
December 2007: Miracle Tomato is named one of the top 10 theater shows in the Denver/Boulder area for 2007 by the Daily Camera.
January 2008: Miracle Tomato is re-written and performed at Florida International University, Miami.
April 2008: Miracle Tomato is presented by Walking the dog Theater as a part of the Small Revolution Expo in Hudson, NY; an event that welcomed a creative dialogue for those concerned about agriculture and America. Ashley Hughes directs the production.
June 2008: Jessica is invited to ART OMI in Ghent, NY to stage a choreographed consumption of local tomatoes.
July 2008: With the assitance of Joan Bruemmer and Ashley Hughes and artists from the Berkshire Fringe Festival, 'Tomato Ceremony' kicks off the festival and addresses the issue of the salmonella scare that caused hundreds of tomatoes to be ploughed under.
July 2008: Miracle Tomato is performed at the Berkshire Fringe Festival in Great Barrington, MA.
September 2008: Miracle Tomato is performed at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Elizabeth Bigger plays 'Joanie'.
April 2009: 'Angelina' meets Connecticut farmers and recites Neruda's Ode to Tomatoes at New London's Bean and Leaf, Cafe.
April 2009: The Garde Arts Center in New London, Connecticut presents Miracle Tomato and Food for Thought, an event highlighting local food organizations and the Greater New London Farm to City Coalition. Kate Eskra Fioravante plays 'Joanie', Ashley Hughes directs.
